Program To Provide Free Race Entries For Current and Former Military Personnel
Baxter, MN (February 28, 2022) – Border Battle XC, the Midwest’s premier off-road series, is excited to announce a new program in appreciation of those who have served, or are currently serving, in any branch of the U.S. military.
The 2022 Warrior Challenge will provide free race entries throughout the season to anyone presenting a valid military I.D. or proof of service. In addition, BBXC is structuring an event and year-end fund that will award prizes to Warrior Challenge racers, regardless of what class they choose to compete in.
“This isn’t a points championship,” said BBXC founder Gary Walton. This is just a fun side challenge to honor and reward those who have gone above and beyond for all of us. Riders taking part in the Warrior Challenge can race any class from Sportsman 1 to AA and will receive the points scored in their individual classes, keeping things on an even playing field. The idea is to get more Vets and active service members, to come out and race with us.”

Over the past couple of seasons it has come to light just how many of our competitors have served in defense of our country and the freedoms that we all enjoy, the least of which is racing motorcycles. We have also had a number of young adults who have recently stepped away from the series in the prime of their riding careers, to enroll in various branches of the military.
Last season we had what could have been a fairly serious rider down situation at our race in Crosby, Minnesota. As it turned out the first competitor on the scene was former Marine and current firefighter Blake Rondeau, who immediately stopped, sacrificed his race and provided what was hands-down the best case assessment and care for the injured rider, who ultimately did not have any life-threatening injuries.
That event really prompted this whole idea and we can’t wait to make it happen.
Thanks to generous product donations, the silent action at our 2021 year-end banquet raised over $700 towards the Warrior Challenge. BBXC is happy to cover any additional expense throughout the summer, however, if individuals or businesses would like to contribute cash or prizes, including an available title sponsorship, they can contact Gary Walton at gary@redplatemedia.com
