Nick Swenson and Logan Kittock overcame a nasty first turn crash to go on and outpace the field at the inaugural North Coast Clash, presented by Checkpoint Off-Road. Kittock held the upper hand early on with Swenson entering the scoring lane hot on his wheel only to make consecutive pit stops at the start of laps one and two to repair broken parts from the opening lap mayhem.
At the end, it would be a routine fuel stop that cost Kittock his third straight BBXC win, as Swenson got the signal to continue through the pit lane putting a 10-15 second buffer on the current points leader. Both Red Moto Honda pilots held a several minute gap in the field, however, it was rookie AA rider Clint Huff keeping the charge on to claim his first podium in the class aboard his Kawasaki.
The event at Big Snow Resort in Wakefield, Michigan was a true one-of-a-kind cross-country scramble looping not one, but two of the biggest ski mountains in the Upper Peninsula. The course featured a constant mix of fast, flowing grass track up, down and across multiple ski runs, dotted with some extreme climbs and decents over boulder filled terrain in the gladed woods between the runs.
